Last Night In Laguna - by C.M. Albert
Last Night in Laguna
Bexley Rue’s gypsy soul has always chased after her
heart’s next fleeting desire, until her sister Vaughn’s terminal illness brings
Bex’s carefree lifestyle to a screeching halt.
Kai Donovan has only ever craved stability and love
over everything else. His trip to Laguna Beach suddenly has him throwing
caution to the wind for the one woman who could capture and break his heart—all
in one night.
Knowing she’s leaving the next day for a
cross-country move, Bexley’s only looking for fun on her last night in Laguna.
Until she meets Kai, who sparks such an intense attraction it has Bexley
questioning everything. When Bexley’s world is cracked wide open with surprises
from the past and complications for her future, are Kai’s feelings enough to finally
get Bexley to face her fears and allow true love in for the first time? Or will
her gypsy heart win out and have her chasing shadows once again?
Excerpt
“I don’t know what it is about you, but you seem to
see right inside of me like no one else has been able to do since I was a
little girl. It both terrifies me and turns me on like nobody’s business. But I
can’t change overnight. We hardly know each other, and I can’t help my
circumstances. My sister needs me, and I’m getting on a plane in”—she looked
down at her Fitbit—“twelve hours.”
“There’s
a lot we could get to know about each other in twelve hours,” Kai said, his
voice turning raspy as she leaned down and kissed the crook of his neck. She
moaned against his skin and it nearly unhinged him. “But I’m not going to be
able to think with you nibbling on my neck and sitting in my lap. You’re making
this awfully hard on me, Bex.”
“Who
said I’m trying to make it easy?” she purred.
“What’s
your favorite color?” he asked.
“Burnt
orange.”
“Burnt?
What’s wrong with fresh orange? Or raw orange? Or evenly cooked orange?” he
asked, laughing.
“Because
burnt orange is richer, has more depth, more passion than just regular orange,”
she answered matter-of-factly.
“Hmm.
You’ve thought a lot about this,” he said. “My favorite color is black.”
“Black’s
not a color. It’s the absence of color.”
“Nothing’s
simple with you, is it Bex?” he growled. “Maybe I do just need to kiss that
sweet mouth of yours so you’ll stop being so technical.”
“Did
you just say ‘technical’ while I’m sucking on your earlobe? That’s kind of hot.
Say some other big words to me,” she joked, as she lifted his shirt and placed
her mouth against his chest.

Author Mariah de la Croix talks about her Psychic Encounters with those who refuse to rest
Restless in Peace
A Psychic Mortician's Encounters with Those who Refuse to Rest
by Mariah de la Croix
Hello
Everyone,
I’d first
like to thank Stacy Eaton for the opportunity to be a member of this book promo
she has created. Thank you, Stacy!
Today, June 25th, 2016, marks the seven year
anniversary of my last full day of work in the funeral industry. I found I had to leave a profession I dearly
loved due to health reasons, and several years later also quit renewing the licenses
I had worked so hard for. I mean, for
goodness sakes, in what field could I actually use a Cremationist or Embalmer’s
license in future? I let those go – why
spend the money every year for something I can no longer use.
So, as a former funeral home employee (I am no longer legally
able to use either the term of “mortician” or “undertaker”) I look back on
great times where energy was high while at work in those funeral homes. My book, Restless
in Peace, brings back fond memories for me of interactions with spirits of
all sorts while engaged in working in that field.
Though I had to change the names of all places and people
involved to protect them and myself from people who feel entitled to know every
last little detail on another person’s life or death, my sharing of encounters
with spirits still, after all these years, bring feelings of warmth to my
heart. Remembering back on my encounters
with those spirits I hadn’t realized, until after several meetings with them,
had fully manifested still bring a smile to my face and fill my soul with good
feelings. Encounters with spirits such
as Sister Mary (who gets her own chapter, by the way), or the ladies who
appeared at visitations to be there for the deceased when no living being would,
or the director with a great sense of humor, have been, and will always be,
great memories I will carry with me forever, with an added sense of gratitude
for their appearance.
And, of course, the memories of spirits that were a touch
unnerving still bring chills to me when I think back on their initial
appearances. Some of those would be the
shadowy manifestations of chapters 13 and 14, the dominant spirit who had to
have the last word in everything from chapter 18, and the spirit of a suicide
victim that chased me through the parking lot in chapter 10, page 131 (that
dear soul is now at peace, which I share my final encounter with him in my blog
as an update: http://mariahsvisions.blogspot.com/2014/02/a-restless-spirit-at-peace-follow-up.html ).
I find myself still laughing at the antics of some of the
more humorous spirits, such as the child following behind me down a hallway in
chapter 7, or those who liked to move things around in chapter 6, or The
Doorman spirit of chapter 1. I also
remember back and find myself laughing at me and how I reacted to spirits that
tried to help me, such as The Knowing Guardian of chapter 4.
In a manner of speaking, the spirits I share with you have
become family over the years. Some of
them, like the suicide victim spirit mentioned above, have taken time to visit
me and I feel truly blessed by that – I am humbled that they remember me as I
remember them. In fact, as I type this,
I am being surrounded by the scent of flowers.
All of the spirits I share with you in Restless in Peace taught me a little something and gave me gifts I
can never repay. I hope you find some of
my encounters with spirits while working in the funeral industry entertaining
and also somewhat helpfully enlightening, too.
Thank you! I bid you
Peace!
